Commissioner Dennis Young grew up on his family's farm in George, WA. At the age of 16, he joined Grant County Fire District #3, where his early exposure to the fire service ignited a passion for pursuing a career in firefighting.
In 1982, Dennis enrolled in the firefighter program at Bates Technical College, further developing his skills and knowledge in the field. He also served as a resident firefighter at KCFD 25, which is now part of the Renton Fire Department. In 1984, he was hired by the Kent Fire Department, which later became the Puget Sound Fire Regional Fire Authority (RFA).
After dedicating 35 years to Puget Sound Fire, Dennis made the difficult decision to retire. Yet, his passion for the fire service and his deep commitment to the community remain unwavering. Now, as a Fire Commissioner, he is excited to continue serving in a new role.
As a Commissioner, Dennis is focused on ensuring our district has the necessary staffing to enable personnel to respond effectively and safely to emergencies. His priorities remain centered on the well-being of both the community and our dedicated first responders.
