    This Natural Vegetation Burning Permit is valid for the burning of natural vegetation only & subject to the rules & regulations of Washington State, King County, Puget Sound Clean Air & Mountain View Fire and Rescue (see RCW 70.94.750, RCW 70.94.743, RCV 52.12.108, JFC 1-10.11.2). Failure to comply with the rules & regulations of this permit may result in the forfeiture of the permit and/or financial restitution to any of the above named agencies for actions taken by the district to mitigate the permittee failure to follow all rules & regulations.

    Burn Permits are only valid in Mountain View Fire and Rescue's district boundaries (see map below). No burning within Black Diamond City Limits or any "urban growth development" area is permitted. If a permit is issued/ printed for an address outside of Mountain View Fire and Rescue's district or within Black Diamond City Limits or an Urban Growth Development area the permit is not valid (not eligible for a permit if you live in yellow areas on map below).

  9. Natural Vegetation Burning Permit Rules & Regulations
    This permit provides for a single burn pile no larger than four feet by four feet by 3 feet (4' x 4' x 3') at the above address only & is non-transferable. Only leaves, yard clippings, & other yard or gardening vegetation refuse originating on or immediately adjacent to the human dwelling is authorized by this permit. There must be a human dwelling on the property. This permit must be available for inspection by Fire Department Personnel, King County Fire Marshals or Puget Sound Clean Air while the permittee is burning vegetation or upon request. This permit does not seek to regulate cooking fires or recreational fires fueled by seasoned fire wood or charcoal. Restrictions on Outdoor Fires: It is unlawful for any person to cause or allow any outdoor fire; During any stage of any air pollution episode or period of impaired air quality; or containing garbage, dead animals, asphalt, petroleum products, paints, rubber products, plastics or any substance which normally emits dense smoke or obnoxious odors; or within fifty (50) feet of any structure, or Inside a barrel or similar container. Combustibles must be cleared to expose mineral soil around the burn pile before a fire is ignited. Conditions that could allow fire to spread to within twenty-five (25) feet of a structure must be eliminated before the fire is ignited. Open fires must be constantly attended by a competent person until the fire is extinguished. A means of extinguishing the fire such as a garden hose connected to a water supply must be readily available while the fire is burning. This permit may be cancelled at any time on complaint of nuisance conditions from smoke or fly ash. The fire must be extinguished immediately when changing weather conditions increase the danger of fire spreading beyond the burn pile. The Fire Chief and/or his designee have the authority to ban any & all burning at any time. No Burning Shall Take Place During The Following Periods: Burn Bans issued by the Fire Department Burn Bans issued by Puget Sound Air Pollution Agency Burning is not permitted in the months of July - September Burning may be limited during the months of June & October.
